Advocacy
WITSA is the students’ representative for all Waiariki students. If you have any complaint about anything relating to your course you can come and see us. We deal with individual student complaints. Your complaint will be handled confidentially. We will hear your side of the story and then contact other parties involve coming to a resolution. The complaint can be anything including if you have problem with your course, a fellow classmate, or even personal stuff such as if your landlord gives you grieve. We also deal with class complaints or groups. This also involves anything that is preventing you from studying or making it difficult. If you have questions about your course or anything else, come and ask us we will do our best to help you or refer you to the right person.
Budget Advice
Do you need advice on how to manage your money? We are offering a budget advisory service to you as a student. A Budget Advisor will come in to WITSA and speak to you in confidential environment, helping you with the following:
- Confidential budget advice
- Advocate on behalf of you with debtors
- Give training on budget skills and knowledge
Tenancy Advice
We offer advice on tenancy, landlords, bonds and other things you need to know about your rights as a tenant. We will have someone down at WITSA to help you in these matters.
Work and Income (WINZ)
We will offer advice and support if you need help with:
- Problems getting access to a benefit
- Need help to get support for your family or children
- Need help to get support if you are in financial hardship
- Need help if you are disabled or ill and need support
Someone will be down at WITSA to offer this service to you as a student for a couple of hours a week.
